Today in class we watched Como Agua Para Chocolate, which apparently is a book as well. Our next theme is chocolate, hence the reason. It was rather strange but pretty good. They talked really fast though, but I think I got the main gist, just a little too much nakedness for my liking. Then we spend the rest of class just talking about it, which seemed kind of pointless to me, especially since she said we might not have time for the chocolate tasting tomorrow and pathetic or not, we pretty much booked our trip to
Rome around that day. Hopefully it will work out! We went up to our teacher and told her how much we wanted to do it and asked if we could get the list of the types, so we could do it on our own, if we do miss it. Maybe that'll help?! After class our Rome group met up to talk about things we wanted to do and see and print our boarding passes. There was still a lot to talk about, so we decided to meet up later too. I had my last lunch with the boys and our señora bought special bread and fantas. I never drink soda in the States but occasionally it is great here. I think it's pretty clear she loved them, especially when she kissed them all over when they gaver her flowers. Anyway, I had to go son and she was still in her PJs so I finally convinced Zouhir to ask her to take the picture. She went and changed real quick and came out with some made up and a cute little dress. It was adorable. Then I had to say be to the boys, which stinks; wish they could stay longer. I talked to Zouhir's dad on the phone and he invited me to Sweden anytime--don't have to twist my arm for that. Then I went and met Mike and the girls at Cafe De Indias, which was on my bucket list of things to do. I got a cookies and cream coffee/helado drink that was great. Then we spent a while trying to figure out what we really wanted to see, where we'd eat, transportation and all that. By the end we had a tentative itinerary, which just made me feel so much better that we're not going there aimlessly. We keep hearing 3-4 days is not enough time in Rome, but we're just going to have busy days!! I was going to try to see if I could go to mass at the Cathedral today, but I just ran out of time--hopefully next week! I had just a little time, so I fnally got to check out FNAC--a like Barnes and Noble/Circuit City Spanish store, very cool--I kind of want to get a Spanish novel, but not sure my suitcase could handle it. Then I ran into a couple stores, finally found something for my mom :) and then headed over to Puerto de Derecho to meet my class. Marse is our guide this time and she is so sweet and like the cutest little Spanish girl. Her boyfriend came with us who was an American who studied abroad this past year.
We went row boating in the stream around Plaza de España, which I also wanted to do. I've never been row boating, but I liked it. The others seemed to find it a bit tricky though. I can see why only one person usually does it too because it was really easy to get out of rhythm and start drifting one way. I went with Marse and Erin (from Session 2), which I'm really glad about because I'd never really talked much to either of them. I got to hear about how Marse and her boyfriend met, her job, her studies, and her upcoming year studying in Germany. Then Erin on the other hand, goes to Harvard and plays vollegyball. ¡Guau! By the end we were getting the hang of it and got back in like exactly 30 minutes. The others, however, were lagging behind and the boys had to tow the one group of girls to the end. Then we headed over to Cine Montaditos, which is really popular on Wednesdays because all thier montaditos are 1 euro. It was my first time there, so I was excited. We just talked as we waited for a while, had some chips and fries, tinto and then some montaditos. My first one was chocolate con leche y confitura de frutos rojos (basically a chocolate bar with some red fruit like a jelly)--actually really good! Then I had the montadito.com, which was pollo asad, piña, y salsa rosa (chicken,
pineapple, and a sauce). And then just Marse and I got one more--I mean they're paying and they're like 2 inches, so I tried the taco mejicano, which was chicken, veal and a mexican sauce, and it was great! Afterwards, Lauren and I just walked back and it was already after 12--crazy how the night flew! I happened to catch my parents and skyped with my mom for a while and Dad for a little and caught up on what's been going on. Finally got to bed around 2:30!
