Day 3-Muchas nuevas cosas

I cannot believe we have only been here for 3 days!  We are actually starting to feel comfortable and get our bearings, but still (basically me) STRUGGLING with the language!  We had breakfast then headed off to the study center for more orientation, some city exploration, and then back home for lunch.  Today I finally got try gazpacho, which is like cold tomato and vegetable soup--very refreshing for a hot day.  Then I had some type of bean and chorizo soup/chili (not sure of the name) and some fresas!  Then of course siesta time!!  Around 5 my group met up and we bought some old school flip phones, just to be able to have in case of emergencies or anything.  We decided to walk around some more and were so thankful we did.  First, we saw two weddings taking place!  One was about to start and the bride and bridesmaid were taking pictures outside the church.  Then a newly married couple walked out of the church as the crowd threw rice!  It was a fantastic scene because many people gathered, a few played guitars and drums and sang, and the couple danced.  We loved watching it!  Then as we walked back, we saw this parade taking place, which was a lot of little girls in flamenco dresses and boys holding crosses (it reminded me of our girl scout parades!).
We're not quite sure what it was for, but it was adorable!  Then we headed back to meet up for more tapas, and this was the BEST night yet!  Basically everything was covered in cheese: nachos, potatoes, and fried cheese in raspberry sauce!  Muy delicioso!  To top it off, I got to try a cheesecake milkshake, which was like the first sweet we've had here, since they do not commonly have dessert like we do, so my sweet tooth was very happy!!  Then we headed to a flamenco show, which I loved!  There was a guitar player and singer, and then a man who danced.  I was not sure what to expect, but he basically did a very passionate tap dance with lots of movement.  Then the girl came out and did a similar dance but in a more graceful, flowy manner, using her dress for a lot of accentuation.  Finally we went out and spent a few hours with the whole group!
